1、beat和defeat属一组同义词表现克服时，它们的宾语必需是人或一个集体，如a team, a class, an school, an army 。defeat尤指在战场上打败敌人；beat是游戏、竞赛的专门用词；强调持续或重复地“打”，因此像心脏跳动、打鼓、打拍子等之类具有持续性或重复性的动作 。它们后接竞争对手，可以互换 。We beat their team by 10 points. 我们赢了他们队十分 。
